Gagnon Art - About Claire
Born
and raised in Quebec, Canada, I reconnected with my artistic roots
in 1997, and more seriously when I moved to the states in 2000. I studied
drawing and acrylic painting for 4 years with Micheline Raymond, an artist
for 40 years, and founder of the Creativ'Art Gallery and School in Montreal
(www.creativart.qc.ca).
Since
2000, I have had the chance to study with Tom Gill, a talented artist
from Lowell, who uses characteristic brushstrokes and bright colors. Already
a colorist myself when I first met Tom, he showed me how to push each
color further, adding more contrast and giving a deeper impact to the
paintings. The Tom Gill influence shows in most of my paintings, through
the colors and a better sense of composition and harmony. I have also
studies with Charles Movalli, Dale Radcliff,
Charles Sovek, amongst others.

Living
in Dracut, I have met a lot of wonderful artists by joining local art
groups including: the Chelmsford Art Society (as the President), the Brush
Art Gallery, the Whistler House Museum, and the Andover Artist Guild.
With
my artist friends, I have discovered the pleasure of painting landscapes
"en plein air". On a nice summer day, I like to pack my easel with a picnic,
go on location and paint a landscape study with my friends. Sometimes,
it gives the best results reflecting the spontaneity and atmosphere of
the day.
